"It's real now." "It feels real."

Those were the words of David Vyborny (pictured left) in full print this morning in an article ran by the Columbus Dispatch. Vyborny should know, he's the sole remaining original Columbus Blue Jacket (although Klesla did see 10 games that first year). They were in reference to the changes that are occurring mostly behind the scenes at Nationwide arena -- here are some more snippets from that article:

"Privately, players say the offseason firing of general manager Doug MacLean and the hiring of Scott Howson has lifted the mood and changed the outlook of a club that has had six losing seasons. Bluster and bravado, they say, has been replaced by a quiet confidence and a singular goal -- winning.

Expectations have been made clear, leadership roles have been defined, an on-ice system of play has been put in place and an identity -- big and tough and resilient -- is being forged.

"My sense is that it's a united group right now," captain Adam Foote said. "We're all pushing in the same direction."

The shift started last November when Hitchcock was hired. As the players walked out of Nationwide Arena last spring, they were given detailed directions -- drawn up by Hitchcock and strength and conditioning coach Barry Brennan -- for their offseason conditioning program."

Yes Jacket fans, just more confirmation that times - they are a changing down on Nationwide Blvd.

8 days til camp!
