Ohio State Men's Hockey to play @ Nationwide on Oct 16th!

I was just forwarded this baby a little while ago (thanks BHG!):

Ohio State and Denver to Meet in Nationwide Arena Oct. 16

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The second game of the Ohio State men's hockey home series vs. Denver will be played at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 at Nationwide Arena in downtown Columbus, home of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets. The first game of the series will be at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 in Value City Arena, the Buckeyes' home rink, on the Ohio State campus.

The teams met in Denver last season, splitting the series Oct. 24-25, 2008. The Pioneers won the opener, 3-1, before the Buckeyes rallied to win the second game, 4-3.

The Buckeyes begin their 2009-10 campaign with an exhibition game against Western Ontario at noon Oct. 4 in the OSU Ice Rink. The regular season opens Oct. 8-9 in Value City Arena against Quinnipiac.

It's not quite the Jackets/OSU double header I was hoping for but still this is pretty damn cool.

Denver is a regularly ranked program and with Ohio State coming off their 5th NCAA Frozen Four appearance last season this should be a great game.

Ohio State will be lead this year by guys like 2008 2nd round pick Zac Dalpe (my boy!) and 2007 6th round pick John Albert.

I also received a twitter update that the OSU men's hockey team took the ice for the first time this season today.

No word yet on the cost of tickets for the Nationwide event but once I find out I'll update this post.

If you've never been to a college hockey game I would highly recommend it. It's cheap which makes for a great family outing and the quality of hockey is excellent!

just a quick note on that post, OSU played in the NCAA tourny last year but did NOT make it to the frozen four. frozen four included BU, Vermont, Bemidji State, and Miami.

OSU games are great. Anyone who has never been is missing out. I go to several games every year with my dad and we've been going on my birthday to the Ohio Hockey Classic for the past 5 years. Last year we got to see Army knock off the national runner up in Miami with their backup goalie stopping like 56 shots. It was incredible. If you can catch an OSU-Miami game, you're getting two of the best in College and usually a handful of NHL prospects. Plus theyre wayyy cheaper than Jackets games and you can always get great seats. Definitely going to go to this one!

Sorry Tom.. I wasn't very clear as I'm just used to calling that entire thing the Frozen Four Tourey.

Thanks for the clarification.
