The Blue Jackets have made seven roster cuts today.
C Derek MacKenzie and D Jonathan Sigalet have been placed on waivers as of noon today. If they aren't claimed by noon Tuesday, both players will be sent to minor-league Syracuse.
D Grant Clitsome, D Nick Holden, LW Tom Sestito and RW Maksim Mayorov have been sent to Syracuse, while D John Moore was sent back to his junior club, Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League.
By sending Clitsome to the minors, the Blue Jackets have two options for a No. 7 defenseman -- sign Martin Skoula to a contract, or swing a trade. The former seems more likely than the latter, although the Blue Jackets have made a trade offer, and they're waiting to hear back from the other club.
GM Scott Howson said he expects to contact Skoula's agent, Jiri Crha, to talk about "their plans" later today.

No Matt Calvert decision yet I see...
Speaking of -- I can't figure out why they keep saying if he signs they want him in the AHL as he can sign and play in either the AHL or go back to junior -- at least that is my understanding.
First and foremost I just want this kid under contract as this is the final year they can do so before he can go back into the draft.
As far as the list of guys getting sent down.. not a lot of surprises there.. great to see Moore going to junior.. he had one helluva camp but this is the best place for him for now.
Clitsome knows he's on that short list but he needs to be playing.
By my count that leaves Blunden, Roy, Skoula and Picard still up.
In terms of trade, I keep comin back to Van Ryn in Toronto as the target... but Burke will have to eat some Jackets salary for that to happen.
Torres and a 4th round pick for Van Ryn?
-LTL
I like Torres too much.. I hope it's not Torres.. Maybe we are signing Skoula to replace Klesla ?? I guess we can only speculate, but Chimera would be a prime candidate..
LTL,
Did Liffiton get sent down? I have not heard anything on him and he played decent on Thursday night. Let me know if I missed something.

ah,
Nevermind, I went to puckrackers and in the article it says he is one of the assignees to the Crunch.
Yep at this point all we know is that it appears Skoula will be our 7th defenseman, wait a second... ROY hasn't been cut yet ?? Does anyone know if Roy is still on the roster?? Because if we still have ROY listed (a career 7th defenseman IMHO) and we are going to talk to Skoula this could be really interesting day... BTW considering Howson's track record, if he send a trade sheet today that means the deal is almost finalized... usually takes a few hours to 2 days tops with Scotty.. he doesn't go through the trade offer motion unless both sides are really close... In Howson we trust.
Skoula was also cut.
Check the Dispatch blog for details on the latest trade.
