Stat of the day

I know these haven't been as consistant this summer but when I find a good stat I'll break it back out throughout the dawg days.

This year's entry draft marked the 1st time in 5 years the Jackets did not draft a goalie:

2008 - none
2007 - Allend York - 6th rd.
2006 - Steve Mason - 3rd rd.
2005 - Tomas Popperlee - 5th rd.
2004 - Dan LaCosta - 3rd rd.

All in all the Jackets have selected a goalie 6 out of their 9 drafts.

It's really interesting looking at the CBJ overall draft picks... there's a list at Wikipedia, I don't know of other ones off the top of my head (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Columbus_Blue_Jackets_draft_picks)

We get a lot of good guys in the 3rd and 4th rounds though... I was just thinking about that when I saw that both LaCosta and Mason were 3rd-rounders... the way ppl talk about them being the future backbones of the team, I think it's cool that they were 3rd-rounders...
