..and I thought I was a homer!

Listen to the Calgary announcers in this video for a good laugh:

Really guys...after 4 replays including a super slow mo shot of Regher's stick thwacking Dorsett's grill you still think that was a skate that spread him open like a taco?

Video doesn't lie but we have learned this year (thank you Toronto) that it certainly can be interpreted many different ways.

As puck-rakers reported yesterday this play is under league review as well it should be. Of course its now up to Campbell to hand out the suspension so.. yeah... don't hold you breath for anything significant.

Hopefully Dorsett is okay after that cheap shot.. he's a tough kid so I don't expect him to miss much if any time.

Thanks to Kevin for sending this in!

The league sends out a memo stating they are going to crack down on head shots. Regehr not only delivers a head shot with a stick, but does it at Eye Level. There was only one purpose for that action: Intent to Injure.

There is no other intent to deliberately crosschecking someone in the head after a whistle. This wasn't a regular check that got up high in the heat of the action. Regehr picked his target and delivered his shot.

If there isn't a serious suspension, we know that the league prints their memos on toilet paper since they obviously don't mean what they write.

After seeing this video, I didn't realize that Regher got his stick or fist in Dorsett's face before Dorsett gave him a shove... I was wondering why he was so fired up. And the announcers, "Oh he just hit him with his stick under the helmet... no big deal..." Jeez, is Calgary the dirtiest team in the league this year or what? If Regher doesn't get at least 3 games, Howson needs to file a formal complain, and go visit that weasel Colin Campbell and rip him a new asshole.

I hate to sound like a downer but honestly...
Actually let me start this message differently... I am European, been in the states for close to 10 years now...
Big soccer fan, still am...but let's say some leagues in Europe are more corrupt than others... their blatent disrespect for the rules is nothing compared to the NHL... The NHL has to be one of the most "respect" influenced sports in the world...
Funny thing is though the NFL seems to be very nicely run.... can't think of a controversial call this season in the NFL...

Anyways when the fan base thinks it's OK for the ref to call any small thing because he has given the other team 3,4 PP oppurtunities.. you have issues.. Make up calls are pure and simple BS and they out in the open in the NHL... in fact they are EXPECTED... when you hear a coach/player state during intermission that they have to be CAREFUL because they have had so many PP oppurtunities....seriously WTF.... a hooking is a hooking, an offside is an offside... a penalty sheet doesn't have to balance.. as an outsider I am still aboslutely jaw dropped when I hear this from a player or coach... they are basically saying that the refs are not doing their job.. the most recent one was Regehr.... who clearly needed his rear-end escoreted to the lockerroom... BUT because Phaneuf was already in the locker room they didn't call that... double minor my ass... We all know that if Phaneuf and Regehr where wearing a CBJ jersey both of them would have been escorted to the lockerroom... and suspended for 3 games each...

Having now seen the incident, it's not nearly as egregious as I thought it was going to be. Regehr is taking a whack, but went way high in the midst of a scrum. I guess everyone sees what they want to see.
