From the London Press:
The London Knights have agreed to trade star goalie Steve Mason to Western Conference rival Kitchener Rangers as part of a three-team deal.
The Knights are to receive forward Phil Varone, defenceman Steve Tarasuk and future considerations -- which could include Londoner Nazem Kadri, a forward -- from Kitchener as well as goalie Jason Guy from the Kingston Frontenacs in a deal that could be officially announced as early as today. Guy will return to London after originally being a Knights draft pick.
Apparently the Knights did not want to announce this deal until after the WJC game tonight in which Steve Mason will back stop the Canadians as they take on the Americans - winner goes on to the goal medal game this weekend.
Obviously its been leaked and you do have to wonder what kind of impact it could have on the kid.
For those not familiar with Junior hockey - this trade does not affect Steve Mason's standing as a Columbus Blue Jackets prospect. Columbus still owns his rights and is already signed to a 3 year entry level deal. So rest easy in that aspect Jacket fans.

This move IMO will be good for Mason, as it will be yet another opportunity, just like the WJC, for him to play in a high-pressure environment. Best of luck to him as a Ranger.
BTW, nice blog you've got going here, Shelf. Well done.
