Open post

Just wanted to throw this up here for those that want to comment on the game tonight since I'll be a little late to the party.

If the playoffs started today, CBJ would be in the 8th spot. :-)

They've got a few days to rest after tonight, so I'm hoping they play a full game and then some. It would be great to show all of Canada what we're made of.

To borrow from our spiritual brothers over in the Nordecke....MASSIVE!

(MASE-ive?)

I was worried after the season started.

I'm feeling much better now.

Mason continues to shine! Jackets have a good problem. Will be interesting to see how they handle the Goaltenders.

A couple of things off the top of my head. Great to see Malthora and Chimera score goals tonight! Brassard is unbelievable with the way he split those defensemen. Other than losing the fight, Boll looked like the Jared of old tonight running around and finishing/missing plenty of big checks. Peca looked pretty good tonight and we even set up in front of the net on the PP.

Torres looked particularly bad tonight though....

Didnt get to see the last 1.5 periods, whole damn family is sick, but I am HAPPY as HELL. We still dont have our best player playing great and we are winning. THAT is a good thing.

I still think when Pazzy comes back Mason goes back down. I dont want him sitting on the bench not playing and as good as he is, he is not better than Pazzy...right now. I want him in syracuse playing a ton of hockey.

We have 4 outstanding rookies playing right now. Brass, Vor, Methot and Mason. Amazing what a little development will do.

i dont see how there is any way that they can send mason back down to syracuse after going 3-0.
he's proved he can play in the NHL. The bluejackets need a capable back up, you can tell they have no faith in norrena.

yea i wanna know how that " HAMSTRING INJURY " is doin ...?

i bet it got a little tighter

i agree that MASON should probably get more action ( games played ) in syracuse...

but... we do need a capable and NHL level back up to show PAZZY that his horrible play will get him the BENCH... i dont feel they could really ever make that threat with FREDDY OH NO as his back up...

i feel MASON should be up... and should be the back up ... at least until Pazzy shows otherwise... if its evident that Pazzy is not the answer then sit him and run with Mason... and either field trade requests or just live with it and pay him to watch...

having Mason looking over his shoulder and knowing he will be there if Pazzy struggles might just be the motivation Pazzy needs and has never really had...

oh and one more thing...

LEARN HOW TO SCORE ON THE POWER PLAY...

The Jackets will be in a similar situation as Montreal last year. You have a goalie that you feel is your future (Price, Mason), and while you don't want to rush their development, it doesn't do them any good to have them sit on the bench as backup.

I would probably lean towards giving Mason a year in Syracuse, and go with Pazzy for the year, keeping Norrena as backup. Otherwise, the Jackets have to do what Montreal did - go big or go home (they got rid of Huet). If Mason keeps looking comfortable, split time between him and Pazzy and consider trading Pazzy (New Jersey or Ottawa?) for a center and hand the reins over to Mason.

It worked pretty good for Montreal, and mason seems to have a similar laid-back attitude as Price.

One thing that hasn't been discussed much is the CBJ's forecheck, which I beleive has been far superior this year. I love watching Peca's line and the job Nash has done in this area of the game.

Another unsung hero has been Murray who has played such a gritty game, especially on the PK and in the offensive zone corners. I know that Hitch has talked about this guy and because of his comments I pay particular attention in close games on how our grinders take the puck deep and cycle the puck. You can tell the really knowledgable fans who recognize this effort. It's the little things that will lead to the playoffs.

On another note, I recall at least two times when Commodore stood up for his team mates, one being the obvious - the double roughing minor at the end of the game and the other when he approached Phenauff who didn't want anything to do with #22. I have been waiting several years for Pheanauff to get his as he seems to try to take on smaller guys with his cheap shots but seems to back down when the bigger boys respond.

As I was told last last night that I'd love Pheanuff if he was on the CBJ, but, in my opinion, he is one of the biggest cheap shot artists in the entire NHL.

Gutsy effort boys!!!!
