Well in contrast the Jackets sterling road performance tonight the hockey Buckeyes tossed up a stinker tonight at the Schottenstien center. They lost 5-1 to the #2 ranked Miami Blackhawks.
Tom Fritsche got the Buckeyes on the board first and then the 'hawks scored 5 straight and improved their record to 3-0 and looked every bit the #2 ranked team in the country.
Still though I had a great time at the game.....just something about college hockey that I love. I think its mostly the increased hitting compared to the NHL. I'm convinced that there are two reasons for this
1. Guys can't fight in Div 1 NCAA hockey so they hit more instead and/or
2. The players just aren't as good thus hold onto the puck longer and aren't able to avoid the hits.
Regardless the game ops staff puts on a pretty good show and combine that with the prep band playing OSU fight songs and the larger than you'd think student section it really is a good change of pace from the Jackets. You can't beat the $6 dollar cost either.
The men's team plays against Miami in Oxford tomorrow night. Hopefully they produce a better fate!
