Brassard with 3 points in Syracuse win + OSU wins season opener

Derick Brassard notched a goal and two assists as the Syracuse Crunch rallied from a 1-0 deficit to beat the Binghamton Baby Sens 4-1.

Tomas Popperlee stopped 38 or 39 shots to earn his first win of the season. Geoff Platt had a goal and one assist while Andrew Murray and Joakim Lindstom each notched a goal a piece.

Derick Brassard leads the team in scoring early on with 2g 3a in 5 games played. Geoff Platt is second with 2g and 1a in 3 games.

Also of note is that Tommy Sestito returned to action for the Crunch last night after suffering a hand injury in a preseason in a fight with the Buffalo Sabres Andrew Peters.

In other hockey news, Ohio State Men's hockey won their first game of the season defeating the Mercyhurst Lakers 2-1 last night at the Lefty McFadden tournament taking place at the Nutter Center in Dayton Ohio. Ohio State controlled most of the play firing 48 shots but actually trailed Mecyhurst by a goal heading into the 3rd. Tommy Goebel (the leading goal scorer for the Buckeyes last season) notched his first of the year and freshman Peter Boyd had the game winner for the Bucks.
The Buckeyes face the WCHA powerhouse Wisconsin tonight at 7:45 who knocked off 8th ranked Notre Dame 4-1. The Buckeyes are 0-10 against the Badgers in their history. Lets hope their fortunes turn around tonight.
