#12 ranked Buckeyes battle #2 Miami Redhawks at the Schott tonight @ 7:30!

For you hockey addicts like me out there, here is a great opportunity to watch some quality college hockey as your #12 ranked hockey Buckeyes take on the #2 ranked Miami Redhawks in the first of a home and home series this weekend.

The Buckeyes are 2-0 after winning the Lefty MacFadden tournament in Dayton OH. The championship win came against Western Canandian powerhouse Wisconsin of whom the Buckeyes had never beaten in 10 attempts.

Miami is also 2-0 after beating Vermont in back to back contests last weekend by scores of 2-1 and 4-1. Miami Redhawk senior Nathan Davis is a thread to score every shift and is an early season favorite for the Hobey Baker trophy which is hockey's equivalent to the Heisman given out to the best collegiate hockey athlete.

In other hockey Buckeye news, both Peter Boyd and Kyle Hood have been named CCHA Rookie and Defenseman of the Week, respectively, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced Monday. The duo helped the Buckeyes win the Lefty McFadden College Hockey Invitational title over the weekend at the E.J. Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. Ohio State downed Mercyhurst, 2-1, in the first round and beat Wisconsin in the championship game, 5-3.

Game starts at 7:30 and costs as little as $6 for students bucks to get in. I will be in attendance and will have a full game report a little later.

Not to worry though, I'll be DVR'ing the Jackets game and will have a full game preview a little later today.
