Puck-rakers just posted some details of the new patch to honor the late John H. McConnell on their blog and posted the actual link to what it will look like -- which of course I have posted below:
Blue Jackets players will wear a patch bearing the "JHM" logo on the front right shoulder of both the home blue and road white jerseys throughout the 2008-09 season. In addition, the "JHM" logo will appear in-ice at Nationwide Arena behind each goal net and on a pair of the rink’s dasherboards.
Puck-rakers also notes that a statue to honor JHM is also in the works.
A very fitting logo for a great man. Well done Jackets! Now lets go honor him with the first ever Jackets playoff birth!!

Great patch and the patches on the ice will be very appropriate.
The atmosphere at Nationwide at opening night is going to be fueled with mixed emotions. Excitement for the season and sadness that Mr. Mac can't be there to share it with us.
I get so excited and so proud of the guys on a normal night, I am going to be a mess on opening night.
I will be the one toting the box of kleenex.
