Pre-game thoughts: central showdown continues

So we are on game 2 of 8 straight against the Central when we take on the 7-7 Blackhawks. So far we are 1-0 and we start a 3 game swing that takes us to Chicago, Detroit and then Nashville. The schedule certainly doesn't get an easier.

Considering its on a few minutes to game time I'll keep this one really short:

Keys to lighting em up

The Jackets have got to shut down the hot shot rookies in Patrick Kane and Jonathan Towes. Patrick Kane leads the 'hawks in scoring with 17 points while Toews has 11 in 12 games. Robert Lang and Jason Williams are also piling up the points as well.

Expose the 'hawks defense and suspect goatlending. The 'hawks play a run and gun type style which can really leave the defensemen and goaltenders hung out to dry at times - the Jackets must take advantage of this and convert on their opportunities. Backup 'tender Patrick Lalime gets the start tonight as start Khabibulin has struggeled - againt a chance for the Jackets to capitalize on a goaltender who hasn't seen a lot of work this season.

The Blackhawks have struggled a bit at home posting only a 3-5 record. The are coming off a losing streak and will look to turn their fortunes around tonight - the Jackets must be ready.

Finally the Jackest must control the pace of the game. The last time these two teams met the game two into a shoot out in the wild wild west. The 'hawks have a lot of skill up front and this is the type of game they like the play. The Jackets must continue to play suffacating defense and capitilize on their opportunities especially the man advantage.

Another test tonight and another chance to put some distance between themselves and Chicago, St. Louis and Nasvhille.
