Some minor tid bits of news I just saw off of yahoo.com:
The Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday activated right wing Derek Dorsett from injured reserve and assigned him to Syracuse of the American Hockey League.
A seventh-round pick in the 2006 draft, Dorsett had been sidelined with a fractured leg since September 25.
In his first professional season, the 20-year-old Dorsett spent the previous three campaigns with Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League, collecting 49 goals and 79 assists in 180 games. In 2006-07, he recorded 19 tallies and 64 points in 61 contests with the Tigers.
Also on Tuesday, Columbus signed right wing Stefan Legein to a three-year contract.
The 18-year-old Legein was a second-round pick this past June. He currently is playing with Niagara of the Ontario Hockey League, where he has registered 16 goals and 10 assists in 17 games.
Just checking out BlueJackets.com they have both stories posted as well.
So great news. I know the Jackets liked Dorsett in camp and he brings a rugged physical presense to the Crunch lineup....and this is one tough dude...as was displayed when he played through most of camp with a broken leg. I'm sure the Crunch are excited to see what he can bring to the team.
..and then their is second round pick Stephan Legein. The Jackets definitely seem to like what they have in this little fireball who patterns his game after Darcy Tucker and Sean Avery. He is off to a pretty good start this year (although he's cooled of in the point department as of late) and should have an outside shot to make the team next year -- at the very least he'll most likely turn pro and start the year out in Syracuse.
Good for the Jackets to have Dorsette back playing and great to hear we've got another young prospect locked up with a 3 year deal. That makes he and Voracek already signed from the 2007 class.
Here is a cool video off of youtube of Legein:
