Stat of the day

Only four Blue Jackets have played in all 47 games this season:

Mike Commodore
Jan Hejda
Fedor Tyutin
RJ Umberger

Interesting that there is only 1 forward in that mix and our top 3 defensemen have remained healthy (knocks on first piece of lumber in sight!).

More stats:

Jackets point total at the 2007-2008 All Star break: 56 (25-20-6)

Jackets point total at the 2008-2009 All Star break: 49 (22-20-5)

What's interesting is that after the All Star break last season the Jackets only won 2 of their next 18 games. 11 of those were on the road.

That is a perfect example of the heat getting turned up after the break and the Jackets were not able to respond.

Lets hope that's not repeated after this year's break -- which honestly, I don't think will happen because:

1. That team last year started hot and eventually faded. This year's version seems to be ramping up.

2. The Jackets play 10 of their next 13 at home. They just finished playing 11 of 16 on the road.

3. They should start to get healthy.

Good points -- amazing that we had 51 games in by the All Star break last year.

Also consider that we have only 7 back to backs left out of our original slate of 20.

Here's some numbers for you. There are 35 games left. For an easy break down lets make our record 20-10-5. That totals 45 points plus our current 49, CBJ total 94 which should be in the playoffs and well above "the line". That is a better pace than we have been able to keep up so far. For every loss two games have to be won. But with everyone getting healthy, everyone familiar with each other, the terrific one for all - all for one attitude, I think it can and will be done. With way the West looks the Jackets are, for all intents and purposes in playoff mode now, every game will require maximum effort cuz every game means that much. And there is room to make that one last move if needed.

GO JACKETS!

OMG...Bettman is talking suspensions if players named to all star game no show!!! as per Daren Drager of TSN..The NHL says it will enforce an understanding that all players who decline to show after being named to the All Star must miss at least one game before or one game after the All Star weekend.

If so, Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom may be forced to sit the Red Wings next game if they don’t immediately change their All Star break plans and report to Montreal.

Awww so we might get a less than complete Wings squad if the boys take a mid season break! LOL
