It may backfire but its low risk high reward -- and we've seen those types of moves before -- York, Peca & Hejda come to mind.

Some worked out (see Hejda), some backfired (see York) and some were mixed results (see Peca).

There are other names I'd rather see but a healthy 39 year old Zubov can help this squad - especially on the PP. The key of course staying "healthy".

-LTLLTLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15817321633985765198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942323299745921789.post-53953056153738645172009-07-10T16:30:18.426-04:002009-07-10T16:30:18.426-04:00eplagge: Your comments bring to mind one name.......eplagge: Your comments bring to mind one name.....Sergei Fedorov. Because we would be getting one of best PPQB the game has ever seen.. sure he's 39 and there is not much thread left but he's an elite defenseman.. He would be a great addition for 1 year... Howsen isn't going to risk the foundation for 1 year rental... Plus think of the publicity it would bring to Jackets for a future Hall-of-Famer to choose to retire with the Jackets... I would be excited if we can get Zubov for 1 year.. remember this is in addition to the trade...eplaggehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08546755501285760023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942323299745921789.post-23105862110109458502009-07-10T15:08:52.692-04:002009-07-10T15:08:52.692-04:00Interesting rumor. Like "Bruce" mentioned, the guy is 39 years old, has stated he is probably one year from retirement, and has just had major surgery. I think Howson wants a longer term solution for a PP QB.CBJ_Nuthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09881421442156792110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942323299745921789.post-17541538872945488462009-07-10T14:44:05.154-04:002009-07-10T14:44:05.154-04:00Stop! At this point, look for a trade to take place with either San Jose or Toronto later in the summer (both are looking for forwards), as both of those GM's seem to over-value their players. San Jose needs the Cap relief also. Howson has proven he's patient enough to wait for the most opportune moment to make a deal that benefits us versus some other team.Rickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13758805762301302813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942323299745921789.post-70981187738330052522009-07-10T14:41:25.220-04:002009-07-10T14:41:25.220-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Rickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13758805762301302813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942323299745921789.post-43561599933665006742009-07-10T13:56:18.366-04:002009-07-10T13:56:18.366-04:00Pass, please...Pass, please...Patrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08456185823681810367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942323299745921789.post-83000521405131197942009-07-10T13:47:47.959-04:002009-07-10T13:47:47.959-04:00If he is 39 and coming off of major surgery, I wou...If he is 39 and coming off of major surgery, I would be very leery of his ability to play at the NHL level any more.Brucehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08658476144715130916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2942323299745921789.post-58788982892352644622009-07-10T12:46:06.844-04:002009-07-10T12:46:06.844-04:00very interesting but i like the trade route better...very interesting but i like the trade route better. no need to put a band-aid over a problem for one to two years.RGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03478968130482842629noreply@blogger.com
